ARMY BOOT CAMP
The Army Experience Programme is a project launched by Global Edutourism Group to promote teambuilding activities and leadership development through outdoor action and metaphor learning. As the first of its kind in Singapore, the programme is conducted in a unique setting of Military Environment & Activities.
The programme offers the best training curriculum and highly experienced training consultants to create high impact outdoor military learning for participants. Incorporated on the Ministry of Education curriculum, the Army Experience Programme seeks to equip participants with life-changing values and skills through the Socio-Emotional Skills Model (SEL), which breaks down the process of learning into systematic stages. The chief advantage of the SEL from a pedagogical point of view is that it can be used as a tool to ensure that an effective transfer of learning occurs for all participants. SEL is essentially committed to the holistic development of every individual that challenges the social, physical, emotional and intellectual capacities of all participants. This learning is further reinforced through our training consultants’ astute application of framing, funnelling and solution-focused facilitation techniques.
Hence this action-packed approach strives to produce a hybrid of recreational, educational, developmental and re-directional outcomes to challenge the participants to not just have a great time of fun but also to be equipped with the abilities to translate the learning points and values acquired from the military training activities into practical and pragmatic solutions for real-life challenges and scenarios.
Learning Objectives
Under the theme “Brotherhood of Steel”, the camp is beneficial to students in the following aspects
Regimentation training is the program of physical and mental training required in order for an individual to become a soldier in the National Army. It is carried out at several different Army posts around the country. Regimentation training is designed to be intense and challenging. The challenge comes as much from the difficulty of physical training as it does from the required quick psychological adjustment to an unfamiliar way of life.
Basic Combat Training (BCT) is where individuals learn about the fundamentals of being a soldier, from combat techniques to the proper way to address a superior. BCT is also where individuals undergo physical training to prepare their bodies and their minds for the eventual physical and mental strain of combat. One of the most difficult and essential lessons learned in BCT is self-discipline, as it introduces prospective soldiers to a strict daily schedule that entails many duties and high expectations for which most civilians are not immediately ready.
Tactical Combat & Strategy: In pace with the changes in mainsteam school curriculum and in tangent with the ministry initiative for character development, holistic education and socio-emotional learning of students, TAC games presents a fun and engaging platform for the experiential learning interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. Different from classroom activities and conventional ‘team-building’ styled products, TAC games employs a do-experience-learn approach rather than a “show and tell” manner.
In each of these game plays, the students learn through a pre-game briefing and a post-game feedback session. The trainers provide a formative assessment of their performance, allowing the experience to focus on their processes, decision-making and interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. With this, emphasis is placed on their code of conduct, rather than winning the game entirely.
